Swift Transfer ("the app", "we", "us") is a peer to peer file sharing app for Android and iOS. This policy explains how the app handles your information. The short version: we do not collect any of your data.
We do not collect any data
Swift Transfer does not run any servers and does not have any backend. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information about you. There are no user accounts and no sign up.
How your files are handled
When you send a file, that file travels directly from your device to the receiving device over a local connection. Depending on what your devices support, this connection is one of the following:
- A direct Wi Fi connection between the two phones (Wi Fi Direct).
- A shared Wi Fi network or hotspot that both phones are on.
- Bluetooth, used to discover devices and exchange small setup messages.
Your files never pass through our servers, because we do not operate any. We never see, copy, or store the files you send or receive. Files you receive are saved only on your own device.
Permissions the app uses and why
- Bluetooth (scan, advertise, connect): to discover nearby devices and exchange the small messages needed to start a transfer.
- Nearby Wi Fi devices and Wi Fi controls: to create the direct Wi Fi connection that carries the file data.
- Location (on Android 11 and below only): the Android system requires the location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices. We do not use, store, or share your location, and we never track where you are.
- Notifications: to show you incoming transfer requests and transfer progress.
- Files, photos, and storage: to read the files you choose to send and to save the files you receive. The app only accesses files you pick or files sent to you.
- Foreground service and wake lock: to keep a transfer running and at full speed while it is in progress.
Third parties
The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third party software development kits. We do not share any information with anyone, because we do not collect any.
Children
Swift Transfer is a general purpose utility and is not directed at children.
Security
Because files move over a local connection directly between the two devices, your data stays between you and the person you are sharing with. We recommend only accepting files from people you know and trust.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
